Blackberry

Before I bought my first iPhone, I was a loyal Blackberry user. I was in love with its design, its physical QWERTY keyboard (yes, with actual buttons), the BBM (Blackberry ‘Instant’ Messenger), and the ability to access quick emails on the go. Game changer!

For my Gen Z folks, BlackBerry was a brand of smartphones developed initially by BlackBerry Limited (formerly known as Research In Motion, or RIM) from 1999 to 2016, after which it was licensed to various companies.

When the first blackberry cell phone was released in 1999, I was 16 years old with no cell phone to my name, lol. I don’t think I got my first mobile phone until I went to college in 2001, and even then, it wasn’t a Blackberry. I purchased my first Blackberry (the Blackberry Curve 8300) in 2007 at 23 years old and loved it! Throughout the years, I have had different variations of the Blackberry Curve and Blackberry Bold. I mean, I literally felt like a boss! At its peak in September 2011, there were 85 million BlackBerry subscribers worldwide. However, BlackBerry lost its dominant position in the market due to the success of the Android and iOS platforms; its numbers had fallen to 23 million in March 2016, a decline of almost three-quarters. -Wikipedia.

All in all, Blackberry devices have a special place in my heart, so if they ever developed a new version of the Blackberry, I just might have to try it. RIP to the original Blackberry mobile devices. #flashbackfriday #blackberry #cellphone #mobilephone #rim #fbf
