Breaking Point
#SongLyricsSundays
One thing about me, I love great songwriters. The creativity it takes to sync words with music, phrasing, a feeling, melodies, harmonies, etc., is a gift, art, and skill I admire. As a songwriter myself, anytime I hear a new song, I have to read the lyrics. As a kid in the mid 90s, I would listen to cassette tapes and rewind them back a million times just to write down each word.
In recent years, I started listening to curated playlists and recently came across the "New in R&B" playlist on @applemusic while working. As soon as I heard the first chord of @leonthomas Breaking Point, I found the lyrics and followed along.
This type of songwriting always touches me. It's heartfelt, relatable, and memorable. I've been singing this song nonstop since I heard it, LOL, and just like that, @leonthomas has a new fan!
Personally, I've had several breaking points in my life, from unhappy relationships (romantic or platonic) to being unhappy in jobs or with clients. So undeniably, I could relate to this song with breaking points to the level of severe depression mixed with the desire for extreme isolation.
However, I learned that (for me) breaking points are God moments. Moments that require me to let go of any control and release any emotions attached to the issue. I’ve found that usually what was waiting on the other side of my obedience and surrender was clarity.
When I could no longer accept or deal with a situation because of too much pressure or stress, I eventually had to make some decisions, and a lot of times, those decisions were life-changing to help propel me to my next phase in life.
